Age has no boundaries when it comes to issues of aging
No matter the age of a person, Foundation supporters come from all ages an walks of life. If you have ever had to care for your spouse or an older loved one such as your mother, father, aunt, uncle, or close friend, you have benefitted from the advocacy work of the Texas Silver-Haired Legislature (TSHL). It is these individuals whose annual generosity sustains our mission to support the voice of older Texans. TSHL is best known for the Silver Alert System to help recover a lost family member before they suffer harm. But their work is much bigger that the Silver Alert. They never stop advocating for reduction in property tax burden, insurance rates, increases for TRS and ERS retirees, Medicaid coverage increases, increases for home delivered meals, medical care compliance, increased broadband service, nursing home upgrades, and other issues that affect aging Texans. The Friends of the Texas Silver-Haired Legislature Foundation are individual supporters who make an annual gift to help fund the Foundation's programs, events, and advocacy work. Their contributions — at any level — are the backbone of everything we do.
Every Friend plays a direct role in ensuring the Texas Silver-Haired Legislature has the resources it needs to advocate effectively on behalf of older Texans across the state.

As a Friend of the Texas Silver-Haired Legislature (TSHL), you can help TSHL in its efforts to:
- Encourage older Texans to participate more actively in public affairs, in the interest of good government for all Texans.
- Encourage more non-partisan discussion and debate on aging issues.
- Provide older Texans with avenues to serve as senior resources in both public and private sectors, and to interact with other citizen groups, organizations, and agencies.
- Adopt selected issues related to aging Texans as legislative priorities and recommend to the Texas Legislature for consideration.
The Foundation actively solicits tax-deductible gifts, grants, and donations that will support the operational expenses of the TSHL for their Legislator Development Session, Legislative Session, Advocacy Session, and ongoing biennial training and legislator development meetings, research, and policy recommendation activities.
