Our Mission
The Texas Silver-Haired Legislature Foundation (TSHLF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the congregate biennial advocacy and education activities of the Texas Silver-Haired Legislature.
We fund the training, research, and operational resources that allow TSHL legislators — all Texans aged 60 and older — to gather in Austin, deliberate on aging-related policy, and deliver their Legislative Report to the Texas Legislature.
Our History
The Texas Silver-Haired Legislature was established in 1985 as a model senior advocacy body. The Foundation was created to provide the financial and organizational support needed to sustain its biennial sessions.
For four decades, TSHLF has ensured that older Texans have a powerful, respected voice in state government — funding the training, travel, and operational resources that make each biennial session possible.

Apr 10th: S.C.R. No. 37 (69R) adopted by the Texas Legislature authorizing Texas Silver-Haired Legislature as the 'Voice of Older Texans" in the Texas legislative process Oct 9th: Texas Silver-Haired Legislature Foundation incorporated to cover the cost of projects and the congregate activities of TSHL legislators in complying with S.C.R. No. 37 (69R)

About the Texas Silver-Haired Legislature
The Texas Silver-Haired Legislature (TSHL) is a unicameral body modeled after the Texas Legislature. Its legislators — all Texans aged 60 and older — are elected from 28 Silver Legislature Districts across the state.
TSHL legislators meet biennially in Austin to debate and adopt resolutions on aging-related issues, which are then delivered as the Texas Silver-Haired Legislature Legislative Report to the Texas Legislature for consideration. TSHL is one of the most trusted, respected, and effective senior advocacy bodies in the nation.
